Background:
The prevalent view nowadays is that art is produced by humans for other humans. It hasn't always been like this. Ancient Greeks believed that creativity and art were gifts from the Gods. Inspiration came from the heavenly. Humanism, which holds that art is solely a human activity that results from human agency, is currently the prevailing mentality. Current theories, however, indicate that we are moving away from humanism and toward a period where robots and algorithms control our behavior to the extent that our "agency" is no longer solely our own. It is beginning to be assigned to the judgments and recommendations of algorithms, and total human agency begins to appear less reliable.
I was also inspired by my previous web-based project AI-Art-Gallery, which awakened the audience's initial critical thinking about AI-generated art copyright.
By combining the artistic inspiration of Ai-Da with the power of Dall-E and the accessibility of Raspberry Pi, I aim to democratize the creation of art and empower users to express their creativity effortlessly. In the meantime, I want to challenge our notions of the artist and creativity, and stimulate discussion over new technologies and their use/misuse.
Technical Details:
The Iris, was developed using Python, JavaScript, Picovoice API and OpenAI API models, provides a speech-to-AI-generated artwork process. This process encompasses voice input, analysis, generation and storage. People can generate the artwork by just saying “Hey Iris“, and not only see “their” work showing on the screen but can download it from the website by scanning the QR code beside it, which leads the audience to the previous copyright project I made.
